They are cut off from the outside world and are constantly supervised.
For their survival, they must form relationships with their fellow islanders. Initially, they pair up depending on first impressions, however, they are later forced to repair at special ceremonies where they choose to remain with their current partner or switch partners.
At the villa, they must share a bed and are authorized to talk with their fellow islanders at any time. Despite being cut off from the outside world, each islander has a phone which they use to contact other Islanders through texting.
Also, they receive messages that brief them of the most recent challenges, dumpings, and re-couplings. Further, alcohol consumption and communications with the outside world are restricted. Moreover, they play numerous games and challenges that test their mental and physical abilities.
The winners receive special prizes that include a special date or a night at the Hideaway. Nonetheless, the islanders are eligible for elimination and dumped for various reasons such as public voting via the Love Island mobile app and the incomplete single after a re-coupling.
During the finale night, an envelope ceremony occurs where the couple who had the highest number of votes from the public attain two envelopes, one for each partner. One envelope has $100,000 while the other has nothing. The one who has the money can choose to share the money with their respective partner.
